Alex Ferguson

Alex Ferguson born Alexander Chapman "Alex" Ferguson born in Govan, Glasgow. He is a Scottish football manager and formerly a player, currently managing Manchester United, he has overseen 1,000+ matches for the team. Considered by his peers to be one of the best managers in world football he has won more trophies than any other manager in England.

Yup that's great or so the press would have you think. His team is the most disliked football team in the country and is so arrogant he demands the press and his players call him the title of 'Sir' which he was awarded in 1999 for his services to football and he is included in the England Football Hall of Fame. Three out of six of the football managers in this group are Scottish. Out of interest there is no English inductee in the Scotland Football Hall of Fame.  It makes me laugh he was awarded a honor for services to football in his playing career he totaled 327 appearances out of which 127 were as a sub. As a manager he had early failure at Aberdeen and his European glory has been minimal.

His title seems to be based on the fact that he has held the throne at United for so long. That has nothing to do with Ferguson United have always been a force since created. His treble winning season included a host of player who had been boosted from the youth team. Ferguson did not oversee the developments of a young Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, David Beckham et al he left that to his other managerial partners.

United's glory is not a testament to Ferguson but it is a testament to United. A good manager can cope on a weak budget but Ferguson failed at Aberdeen on a small budget.

Just a few weeks ago Ferguson and his crew had complained to FIFA about how R. Madrid had been handling the Ronaldo affair and Ferguson claimed it was dirty tactics even though he himself had used a similar plan to lure players to United. Then this week it was confirmed that Benitez and Ferguson had tapped up Keane and Berbatov respectively and that Spurs would be filling a dossier against the teams. This was to much for Fergsuon who claimed if Spurs chairmen Daniel Levy did file the dossier then he'd counter sue the Tottenham board understandably this had footie fans up and down the country in hysterics.

Fergsuon is obviously not modest and is a very arrogant person otherwise he would have declined the honor. Most people his age would be looking forward to retirement and I pray that's what the old git will do.

Here's hoping: iNath.
